ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the notion of prosociality as a fundamental aspect of sustainable organizational well-being. Prosocial behaviour is defined as voluntary actions that benefit other individuals (Batson, 2011), and it has been demonstrated to enhance relational capital, resilience, and psychological safety (Edmondson, 1999). As asserted by OCB (Organ, 1988) and in accordance with the tenets of positive psychology, the significance of this aspect for the promotion of cohesion and the facilitation of collective learning is indisputable. The present study posits that ethical and transformational leadership (Bass & Riggio, 2006) and a care-centred organizational culture (Tronto, 2013) are essential catalysts. Connected to the SDGs, prosociality is a cultural paradigm that balances efficiency and humanity, transforming the organization from a hierarchical system into a cooperative ecosystem.
