ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 pandemic has been an unprecedented challenge for the functioning of cities, towns, and municipal self-governments. Therefore, it has forced municipal self-government administrations to undertake broad and diverse activities aimed at meeting the collective needs of residents, materializing in many sectoral areas of urban policy. This task has proven to be difficult, especially considering the scale of the pandemic crisis, the limited resources available to the aforementioned administrations, and the need to harmonize the activities of these administrations with many other entities, both during the pandemic and post-pandemic periods. The introductory chapter focuses on defining the research perspective as well as the most important terms and concepts used in the book. It explores the authors’ main goals. It also describes the methodology used for the research presented in the volume.
