ABSTRACT
In this email interview from 2021, Ting Guo and Jacob Huang discuss LGBTQIA+ culture and activism in China. Focusing initially on queer cinema in China, the interview ranges over collaborations, community usage of queer media and views on queer media’s future in China. Jacob gives his interpretations of the development of Chinese queer cultures and how they have been affected by global and local developments. His experience working for Aibai gives him insight into the changing landscape in China and the interaction between Chinese and international organizations. He offers a grassroots perspective that casts a new light on the discussions had in the academic chapters of this volume.
