ABSTRACT

One of the challenges facing the international community in connection with Russia's aggression against Ukraine is the creation of an international mechanism to compensate for damage, loss or injury resulting from Russia's internationally wrongful acts committed through its aggression against Ukraine. The purpose of this chapter is to analyse the measures that have already been taken in this area (including the establishment of the Register of Damage for Ukraine), as well as the main challenges facing the international community in the process of establishing the compensation mechanism, in particular, the issues of developing the legal basis and financing for the future institutions.
