ABSTRACT
With the continuous acceleration of globalisation, informatisation and technological progress, the cultural industry's position in contemporary society is increasingly prominent, gradually becoming a new engine for economic development in various countries. As an important component of the film and tourism industry, film festivals not only bring rich cultural activities, but also promote the development of urban economy and cultural tourism industry. Film festivals have a profound impact on the development of cities. This chapter analyses the policy environment and development status and characteristics of film festivals in China's mainland from the perspective of specific cases and points out that film festivals promote the progress and development of cities in establishing urban cultural brands, driving urban economic development, improving the film and television industry chain and enhancing the quality of life of urban residents.
