ABSTRACT

While there is a history of classicists working in UK government, there are limited accounts of the possible impact that a background in Classics has on the work of policy officials. Drawing on the author’s personal experiences of working in policy across multiple central government departments, this chapter considers how some of the experiences and practices developed while studying Classics have enhanced the application of key core policy skills. These include organising thinking around novel policy areas and structuring the practical delivery of policy and strategy products.
