ABSTRACT
Malnutrition in all its forms remains an intractable problem across the world. As the fifth-largest economy in the world, India faces the double burden of both undernutrition and overnutrition. At the heart of it, the challenge remains one needing comprehensive solutions. While much has been written about it, and the pathways are well known, an increasing realization at the policy level, backed by evidence, is that without comprehensive and concerted action at the grassroots level, the issue will remain. Thus, any solution for malnutrition is predicated on action on the ground; the dots need to be connected across departments and sectors at the level where the most impact can be made. This is not just desirable but an imperative if India is to solve the malnutrition conundrum. The present volume brings those very missing pieces to the policy domain. The book offers a unique bridge from the grassroots to policymakers that is often missing from the table. The range of issues and interventions covered is wide, providing a menu of evidence-based recommendations from which interventions might be picked as per need.
