ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we lay emphasis on the fact that human resource management strategies could help a programme or an institution achieve outcomes of a much higher level. It is built on the case of State Rural Livelihoods Missions, autonomous societies promoted by state governments, under the guidance of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) of the Ministry of Rural Development of the Government of India. In terms of structure, we analyse the findings related to HR practices among five states, viz., Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh as a sample. This comes after an introduction to the NRLM, and is followed by a conclusion and recommendations.
