ABSTRACT

This contribution explores the impact of 1 Peter's teaching on the discipleship journey of Muslim Background Believers (MBBs) through the Come Follow Me (CFM) course, a tailored discipleship resource addressing their unique spiritual needs. Within Islamic contexts, MBBs often face social, political, and religious isolation. The CFM course incorporates 1 Peter's themes of identity, persecution, pilgrimage, and exile, equipping MBBs to navigate these lived challenges. Using the personal narratives from five MBBs, this contribution highlights how this course fosters identity transformation. By examining these journeys, the study offers theological, sociological, and anthropological insights into the broader Christian experience of pilgrimage, minority identity, suffering, and the paradox of living as pilgrims yet indigenous, conversing with the teachings of 1 Peter.
