ABSTRACT
In Bali today more adult men are signing up for Topeng classes conducted by dance teacher I Made Suteja in the village of Batuan in Gianyar. In discussing the phenomena of Suteja's adult Topeng classes, this chapter foregrounds the unique pedagogy of Topeng instruction used in teaching mature Balinese students. The chapter explores the reasons why older Balinese men are taking up the art form often associated with younger, physically fit men, and how this process of experiential learning and training is developed according to the physical and cultural ideals of the student learner.
