ABSTRACT
In this chapter I reflect on how I learnt to dance the role of the wise king, Dalem Arsawijaya. I discuss the techniques and challenges I encountered in the learning process including the use of modern technology in my dance training. In so doing, I showcase an often-overlooked dimension to Balinese theatrical and dance studies, one that focuses on the voice and emotions of the dancer rather than just the practice of dance itself.
