ABSTRACT
Energy security is a major global challenge of the 21st century, as it is also inextricably linked to other key challenges facing humanity: global poverty and climate change. Asia and Europe are being brought closer together in interdependent energy relationships and moreover share a broadening range of energy security challenges and predicaments. This chapter examines how these relationships have developed on the interregional scale, paying particular attention to the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process.
