ABSTRACT
The present and future of education demand novel approaches that foster open science. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) defines open science as an inclusive construct that brings together various movements and practices to make multilingual scientific knowledge openly available, accessible, and reusable by all. Its aim is to enhance scientific collaborations and the exchange of information for the benefit of science and society and to open the processes of knowledge creation, evaluation, and communication to social actors beyond the traditional scientific community (UNESCO, 2021). Envisioning open science is like imagining a vast magic carpet woven from diverse movements and practices, where knowledge, data, and scientific evidence converge through wide-open windows that are freely accessible to all. These open windows empower not only scientific communities but also society at large to collaborate, share information, and co-create solutions to pressing global challenges (Ramírez-Montoya, 2023). Inspired by this vision, this book presents a manifesto designed to mobilize open science through new solutions that contribute to the future of education.
