ABSTRACT
Historiography, the study of historical writing and the methods used by historians to interpret the past, can play a critical role in professional military education (PME). Historiography extends beyond merely recounting historical events to examining how history has been recorded, interpreted, and debated over time. Integrating historiography into PME not only offers a deeper understanding of military history by emphasising both historical methods and critical analysis but also develops critical skills, strategic thinking, and decision-making processes.
