ABSTRACT

In the adoption triad, the adoptee is biologically separated from the mother, is traumatized, and yearns for love and belonging. Adoptees, especially coming from developing countries like India, are generally silenced and told about their change of fate in coming to the first world and are crazy for speaking up against adoption. Firsthand accounts suggest that many transracial adoptees face various identity challenges and mental health issues. These difficulties frequently result from navigating alien cultural identities, overcoming racial prejudice, and seeking a sense of belonging. Adopted parents and families must educate themselves on transracial adoptions, their child's culture/heritage, and connect with support groups for transracial adoptees to ensure the overall well-being of their child.
