ABSTRACT
The development of artificial intelligence offers new opportunities for the development of medicine and biomedical research, including the biobanking of human biological material for research purposes. Besides its use in the analysis of biodata and management of biosamples, AI may be useful in communication with research participants at various stages of biobanking – from the process of searching to the moment of communication of results. AI algorithms may be used in targeting and searching for potential donors, during the process of obtaining informed consent and even in communicating results. The aim of this chapter is to analyze the role of AI in communication with participants at various stages of biobanking and to discuss ethical and legal issues that arise in such circumstances.
