ABSTRACT

This final chapter will examine the key points emerging from previous chapters to reaffirm the main concluding points on infectious diseases, population, and learning from the past. One of the main points is the importance of establishing learning mechanisms to critically engage with the past. It is important to maintain current learning mechanisms at global levels, however, introducing such mechanisms at national and local levels is vital in preventions and reducing the risks of communicable diseases including the TB epidemic. Second point is to increase investments for infectious disease treatment programmes through different approaches including public-private partnerships. The final point is that community-based education and treatment programmes are vital in combating infectious diseases. This chapter will then point towards the importance of further research, policy, and practices in the process of combating infectious diseases within holistic development processes.
