ABSTRACT

The introduction provides definitions and context for the book’s central concepts: class, intersectionality, queer, and queer theory. It gives an overview and description of recent publications which explore the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and class. It reflects on the current sense of precarity experienced by many around the world, and the ways in which the so-called gender ideology is often juxtaposed against the interests of the increasingly precarious working class. Within this context, it is argued that an intersectional analysis of gender, sexuality, and class is vital. Finally, the book’s individual chapters are summarized, each of which engages with this topic through the analysis of literary texts.
