ABSTRACT

The Kamtsha River is a small left-bank tributary of the Kasai River, crossing directly through the putative West-Coastal Bantu homeland. The BantuFirst archaeology team conducted survey along the Kamtsha in September, 2021. While few archaeological sites were recorded here, these results may have implications for interpreting the historical record of the broader Kwilu-Kasai River region. This chapter presents the descriptions of the five newly identified archaeological sites surveyed along the Kamtsha River.
