ABSTRACT
This chapter opens by explaining methodological premises, particularly in regard to “scholarly objectivity.” It then describes when the term rape culture entered scholarly work, and why. This chapter details the process of selection for the authors interviewed in this book. It also includes a brief account of the interview process, including a summary of how interview questions were formulated and how the interviews were conducted and edited. This chapter also makes a case for this book’s existence on ethical grounds, explaining why academics must continue to explore sexual violence in the Bible and associated literature.
