ABSTRACT
The Introduction outlines the premise of this study and reviews the notion of celebrity feminism in contemporary Russia by placing its popularisation within conservative authoritarianism and wartime media. After an outline of the historical and socio-political context feeding into and informing Russian contemporary celebrity feminism(s), we clarify the rationale behind this study and the adopted methodology. This chapter introduces the logic of our inquiry as we adopt a set of selected case studies and provide an outline of the book.
