ABSTRACT
Has there been a crisis in multilateralism during the pandemic years? Was this a shift in paradigm or has the COVID-19 crisis simply accelerated an existing trend toward unilateralism? What has been the role of Brazil in fighting COVID-19 and how is the country now perceived by the international community? In order to answer these questions, the author of this chapter conducted short interviews with three Brazilian professionals in the area of international relations. The chapter outlines the most relevant passages of their answers and attempts to analyze them in light of the Brazilian legal, economic, and political background. This is to produce relevant conclusions that may guide further policy action and academic research about Brazil’s response to the COVID-19 crisis and its impacts on Brazilian foreign policy. If not otherwise indicated, all quotes are from the interviews. All interviews have been conducted by the author. At the request of the interviewees, their names are not disclosed for professional reasons.
