ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 looks into how one goes about finding patterns in a pandemic by defining a framework or paradigm to connect professionals to their fields of expertise. Qualitative social science survey research is one area that allows collective case studies in the form of essays to capture a “slice of life” international perspective on how COVID-19 affected the world. The analysis starts with the world as a laboratory and structures the study to use global information in developing hypotheses for future analysis. Twenty-seven essays were written for the book. The chapter identifies the coverage of the essayists, project schedule, and validity checks that link themes and topics to writers. The essay that covers multiple themes equally is presented in the next chapter as a sample. The remaining essays are presented in subsequent chapters.
