ABSTRACT
The use of artificial intelligence in artistic practice is not necessarily new, but it is still in its early stages. There has been an exponential increase in the number of tools that have intelligent algorithms at their disposal. In this chapter, we provide an overview of the most recent developments in the field of education through art. We also discuss the impact of digital tools for developing critical thinking through visual arts concerning the artistic practice of the students of the West University of Timisoara, Romania. The experience that emerged from this approach is adapted to the education of students in primary schools. It is based on an interdisciplinary approach, including: arts studies, dialogue studies, artificial intelligence, and empirical studies. As our technological tools are increasingly present in our daily lives, there is a need to have a critical relationship with this process and our hope is that in this way we can raise awareness, responsibility, and discernment. Our aim is also to move from an addiction to technology to a relationship of symbiosis that is conducive to a self-determined fulfilling life (Carbaugh, 2013; Giró Gràcia and Sancho-Gil, 2021; Jääskeläinen, 2022).
