ABSTRACT
The digital reconstruction of ancient books aims to enhance their academic, cultural, and social value. This involves re-representing and reorganising digital resources related to ancient books, upgrading existing digital materials into smart data, and establishing a foundation for reading, analysis, and utilisation of ancient texts. In line with the overarching goals of digital reconstruction, this chapter proposes a path for reconstructing commentaries, with a particular focus on refining the representation of semantic data within commentaries. Finally, this chapter uses a case study of Wen Fu and its commentaries to illustrate the practical application of digital reconstruction techniques for commentaries. It not only serves as a pilot application of methods and techniques for digitally reconstructing ancient books but also offers guidance for building a knowledge base and semantically publishing ancient texts.
