ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses practices of open humanities data, including dataed access, curation, modeling, and sharing, drawing upon research cases in the cultural heritage institution settings in the United States. More specifically, the author explores: (1) the open approaches and their impact on humanities and cultural research; (2) the benefits as well as challenges of curating openly accessible and reusable humanities data, particularly for digital humanities work; and (3) various infrastructures and practices to facilitate and improve humanities data access, curation, sharing, and reuse. Following this discussion, this chapter draws upon two case studies informed by the author’s own research expertise to further reflect on the challenges and prospects of facilitating practices of open humanities data.
