ABSTRACT

This book focuses on various dimensions of digital transformation within the health sectors of selected European Union (EU) countries and the United States (US). The key objectives are to map research on digital health innovations providing examples of their use in both medical research and healthcare, compare readiness to use digital technologies in healthcare the EU and the US, and examine selected funding models of digital health solutions.

The book consists of three parts. The first delves into diverse topics related to digital health. It commences with a discussion on the essence of digital health innovation, followed by a comparative analysis of healthcare readiness in the digital realm in the EU and the US. Then, various financing models for digital healthcare are studied. The second part presents a case study illustrating the process of digitalization within health system in Poland. The third part of the book delves into specific research themes concerning the use of big data in clinical trial analysis and virus spread modeling.
