ABSTRACT
This chapter will show that participles and modal infinitives are often used in the same syntactic environments as adjectives. For instance, the examples in (1) show that these elements can be used in prenominal attributive position. The fact that this position is usually restricted to adjective phrases and that the prenominal participles and infinitives carry attributive inflection is a clear indication that these elements are adjectival in nature. However, we will see that they also exhibit verbal properties.
