ABSTRACT
General presentation of France France is one of the main actors of the European Union. It is the third largest European economic power behind Germany and the United Kingdom. On 1 January 2015, the number of inhabitants was estimated at 64.2 million inside the French metropolitan area. France is therefore the second most populous country in the European Union behind Germany. It is the largest country of the European Union and because of its history, has many links with the African, American and Oceanic continents.
