ABSTRACT
A representative study found that 13 per cent of German women above the age of sixteen have experienced a criminal form of sexual violence. In only 14 per cent of the cases were the perpetrators unknown to the women (Müller and Schröttle 2004: 65, 78). German criminal law imposes a sentence of ten years up to life for a convicted rape resulting in death.
