ABSTRACT
In the spring of 2001, missiles were fi red toward the southern part of Israel, and the barrage was ongoing, subordinating everyday routine to the physical, psychological, and social realities of life in a war zone, and threatening personal well-being. The stress affects one’s sense of physical and emotional security and causes diffi culties in adjustment. Elderly people, who have relatively few economic and social resources, are especially vulnerable (Carballo et al. 2004).
