ABSTRACT
Modern imaging techniques and the increasing availability of high-resolution image files enable a new kind of precise recording of the entire tradition of visual design, especially drawings, prints, and paintings. Detailed comparisons allow us to distinguish the artistic execution of various hands, identifying the characteristics of masters and their assistants. This is especially true where typical aspects of the master's handiwork can be identified, as in the case of Frans Hals.
