ABSTRACT

In September 2024, the General Assembly of the United Nations committed to adopting a declaration stating that the needs of future generations should always be taken into account. When Tessa Roseboom attended the un Summit of the Future, it felt as though all the stories of her life came full circle. Rather, these stories related not only to her own life, but also to the lives of her grandmothers, her own children and even future generations. ‘It was truly a historic visit,’ says Roseboom, professor of early development and health and commissioner for future generations, with enthusiasm.
