At the ias, Eelke Heemskerk immediately found a natural environment: ‘The self-evidence of interdisciplinary work, learning from each other, with the shutters open, without the need for self-promotion. It's a very pleasant atmosphere.’ During the ias seminars, he notices that people are genuinely interested in each other. ‘If you don't know much about a particular topic, you might simply stay quiet for a moment. Quite refreshing. Or you just ask a question for a change.’
