ABSTRACT

The introduction presents this reader's approach, which is to explore how the debates triggered by the war extend beyond the military conflict itself, asking for their implications for the world order and the future of globalisation. This global debate is mapped out focusing on international law and international organisations; postcolonial critiques of power; rearmament, neutrality, and non-alignment; religious solidarities; and the economic and environmental consequences of the war. The introduction explains how articles published worldwide were collected, translated, and annotated to this end. It argues that this approach enables the documentation of the emergence of an international ‘intellectual laboratory’—a space where journalists, academics, political analysts, and political activists discuss the current state and future of globality.
