ABSTRACT

According to the new UN World Water Development Report (2020), global water resources are under increasing pressure from rapidly growing demands and climate change. In their last assessment report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states that climate change will increase the frequency and severity of natural hazards such as floods and droughts. Natural hazards already cause huge impacts to society with billions of dollars of damages and, on average, 60, 000 casualties per year. 1
