ABSTRACT

The existence of local ordinances on water resources in Indonesia is crucial given that issues related to water are contextual in nature. Meanwhile, the conditions of the various areas in Indonesia are geographically and demographically diverse. The regulation of water resources in Indonesia, with its extensive land area and diverse population, requires legislation issued not only by the national government but also through delegation by the local governments. The Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) still faces problems in meeting their water needs; in light of this, a study was carried out on water resource ordinances that are in force in this area. The result of the study showed that water resource regulation is still plagued with problems related to availability, content, and implementation. The approach employed in this study was a qualitative and it is expected that the results can serve as valuable input for the relevant stakeholders involved with water resource management. As an end result, it is hoped that through the use of water resource ordinances, this vital resource can be managed in an equitable manner for the prosperity of the people.
