ABSTRACT
The capital cost of energy conversion plant, levellized cost of energy, and costs of development time and risk are covered in Chapter 6. The conventions of evaluating the present value of future costs and benefits using the time value of money, inflation and the discount rate are presented. Lifecycle analysis, embedded energy and input-output analysis are also described. The chapter compares different resources and conversion technologies for capital and levellized costs, and also discusses various utility factors and environmental costs.
