ABSTRACT
After SU(2) the most important algebra in particle physics is SU(3). Maybe it is more important. I’m not sure. SU(3) is the group of 3 × 3 unitary matrices with determinant 1 (again, as in (3.30), the U stands for “unitary” and the S stands for “special”, which means determinant 1).
