ABSTRACT

Electricity is a most essential means for every individual that shows development in any country. The electrical distribution system is taking a responsibility to supply a 24×7 quality and reliable supply to the consumer. In order to maintain the supply demand gap the power has to be transmitted in proper form and qualitative in nature. To meet the demand nowadays renewable energy sources (RES) show potential by forming an LV microgrid that decently provides a supply to the consumer, which is possible because of advances in power devices and conversion efficiency of solar and wind. The aim of the study is to study the effectiveness of the microgrid. This paper presents the microgrid software simulation using an electrical transient analyser program (ETAP) that focuses detailed analysis of microgrid as load flow. For that a simulation of solar array supplies three wings (departments) along with the utility grid is demonstrated using ETAP considering two cases, viz. off-grid and grid connected mode. Various parameters such as real reactive power, bus loading etc. have been studied.
