ABSTRACT
Hazard is the potential of an agent to cause a particular harm when receptor organisms or systems are exposed to it. When assessing risks from exposure to a chemical or other agent, you must determine what hazard or hazards you will assess given the case. This process is called, not surprisingly, hazard identification. Hazard identification is part of a risk assessment, but a hazard assessment is a distinct document that provides a generic review of the hazardous properties of a chemical or other agent. When available, they may be used as a source of information for your assessments.
