ABSTRACT
Benchmark values are doses or concentrations of a chemical or other agent that divide acceptable from unacceptable levels. In addition to doses or concentrations, benchmarks should specify temporal limits. These are typically defined as acute and chronic categories, but durations of exposure and frequencies of recurrence should be specified (Section 4.3).
