ABSTRACT
A framework of types of assessment problems and the relationships among the assessments is presented in Chapter 1. It shows how problems and assessments are linked and lets you know what you are assessing and why. The types of environmental assessments each have their own assessment process. If the process is mapped out, you and your colleagues know what you are doing, and reviewers, stakeholders, and decision-makers will have an idea of how you derived the assessment results. These process diagrams are commonly known as assessment frameworks. The basic framework consists of three steps plus input and output.
