ABSTRACT
In this opening section, we introduce the premise of the book, and the university/teaching scenario in which the story takes shape. This section is scene-setting, and introduces the assignment that our main characters, six students at Ostrom University, will work on over the course of the following sections. The overriding topic driving characters into the book's core themes is introduced, namely “nature in the modern world” and specifically the challenge of reconnecting people and nature.
