ABSTRACT

The evaluation and assessment of socio-economic impact by international NGOs and the public sector offers a rich multidisciplinary backdrop for the sustainability efforts of businesses. Faced with the challenges and opportunities of operating in the decade of ESG (Environmental and Social Governance), regardless of their size and geographic location, organizations across a wide range of sectors of the economy are increasingly committing to deliver toward a new set of societal goals along with traditional financial outcomes. Data science for impact – the deployment of data science analytics and frameworks to integrate sustainability dimensions as critical success factors – is essential for businesses as they embark on their impact journey. Multidisciplinary analytical tools and participatory learning techniques represent the foundation for the successful reframing of organizational processes that promote accountability of impact-oriented goals.
