ABSTRACT
Pesticides in the environment are primarily from agricultural applications, which means their presence can be predicted and they can be managed. Pesticides and other contaminants are also released in accidents and natural disasters. The factors that lead to toxics reaching unintended sources are physicochemical properties, initial application methods, and weather and climate. Movement is increased due to global climate change. This chapter concludes the book by providing perspectives on future research and directions. Paths to move forward sustainably are to embrace the principles of the food, energy, water Nexus and to apply green chemistry principles.
