ABSTRACT

I review the need for innovation in education and outline critical elements of the innovation cycle. In doing this, I refer to resources that are valuable to educators and researchers. I illustrate parts of this innovation cycle with an example from recent and current projects. I conclude by advocating for two critical areas of research that can enhance educational practice—the application of well-known and highly effective but under-used research-based knowledge and assessment. I sound cautious about investing in some claims that are published in the education research literature.
