ABSTRACT

Sewing is the act of joining a fabric or another flexible material with a needle and thread. It is known as the oldest technique related to textiles. Before human beings learned the art of making fabric, they had to know the art of sewing. The survival of early human civilization is thanks to the sewing technique, enabling our forefathers to survive extreme weather conditions. The needle, whether of bone, silver, bronze, steel, or some other metal, was always the same in design: a thin shaft with a point at one end and a hole or eye for receiving the thread at the other end. This simple construction with a thread-carrying eye had been an ingenious improvement on the sharp bone, stick, or other object used to pierce a hole through which a lacing then had to be passed [1].
