ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the concept of an entirely non-cemented and stemless system of fixation in the bone of the components of resurfacing arthroplasty endoprostheses of the hip joint using the biomimetic multi-spiked connecting scaffold (MSC-Scaffold). The consequences of this innovative fixation system based on the MSC-Scaffold for the transfer of biomechanical loads in the implant-bone system and preservation of the physiological blood supply of trabecular bone of the femoral head together with the proper potential for remodelling of this trabecular bone are also indicated.
