ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to observe the birth and weaning weight of the crossed Belgian Blue, especially in East Java. There were 13 female calves and 12 male calves observed in this study. These observed calves were located in Situbondo, Lamongan, and Tuban districts, East Java. All of the calves were the offspring of Gatot Kaca, a purebred Belgian Blue bull that has produced its frozen semen, with the beef cattle breed existing on the small-scale farmers (Limousin, Simmental, etc). The results showed that the average birth weight and adjusted weaning weight of 205-day female calves were 38.15 ± 3.87 kg and 176,53 ± 58.21 kg, respectively. Meanwhile, the average birth weight and adjusted weaning weight of 205-day male calves were 40.75 ± 5.69 kg and 219.5 ± 60.85 kg, respectively. The coefficient of variation (CV) indicated that there were moderate and high variations among the birth weight and adjusted weaning weight 205 days, this might be due to the variation among the cow's breed.
